The story within the story of Nocturnal Animals reads like a fucking incel fever dream but with the thinnest of critiques and self awareness that this movie could have ever imagine. The story-within-a-story structure works for the most part though it also halts the momentum at times. In short Ford has managed to take everything good from his solid debut project and bring it to the next level with Nocturnal Animals.
